Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Kolkata

On arrival at Kolkata airport you will be met and transferred to your hotel before boarding the RV ganges Voyager.

Day 2: Kolkata - Emark RV Ganges Voyager (B)

After breakfast you will be collected from your hotel to board the RV Ganges Voyager.

In the afternoon visit the Mother Teresa’s home memorial and the Missionaries of Charity orphanage she founded. Enjoy a cultural performance in the evening.

Day 3: Kolkata - Bandel - Kalna

Drive on an early morning city tour of Kolkata featuring a panoramic view of the well preserved British colonial buildings. Visit Victoria Memorial Museum.

The sail upstream through European East India companies settlements of the 17th centuries through to 19th centuries and visit Bandel’s Imbarara, a colonial era Islamic school and pilgrim rest house on the riverbank.

Day 4: Kalna - Matiari

Enjoy a cycle rickshaw ride to the Rajbari temples in Kalna built in the 19th century and covered with intricate terracotta reliefs of Gods and humans.

Day 5: Matiari to Khushbagh

Enjoy an early morning walk to the shore side village of Matiari, famous for its work in brass and copperware.

Day 6: Khushbagh - Baranagar - Murshidabad

Visit Khushbagh, a tomb complex set in scenic fields built by the local ruler and the village of Baranagar with its beautiful terracotta temples founded by a rich woman who made her wealth in the colonial trade. Walk through local villages before sailing to Murshidabad. In Murshidabad, walk to the vast Neo-Classical Hazarduari Palace built in the 19th century by a British architect abd see a museum of objects amassed by a governor who reigned during the height of the European East India trade. Take a scenic buggy ride to the elegant 18th century  brick mosque. at Katra. Enjoy a local cultural performance on board.

Day 7: Mayapur

After sailing in the morning, a stop in the village of Mayapur, the headquarters of the ISKCON movement with a new temple comaparible in sie to the Vatican and largely funded by Alfred B. Ford, the great grandson of car maker Henry Ford. Meet Krishna folloers and observe the elaborate rituals and decorations of the Gods as well as walk through the pilgrim’s bazaar.

Day 8: Chanderagore - Kolkata

Visit Chanderagore, a once French colony and explore the colonial buildings along the promenade.

Return to the ship and continue our journey downstream to Kolkata

Day 9 : Disembark Kolkata

Following breakfast onboard, disembark the RV Ganges Voyager and transfer to your hotel or to the airport for your onward journey.
